Molten Strike
Frost Blades works a little differently from Molten Strike. Molten Strike can completely ignore the melee hit since you hit with the projectiles anyway, but Frost Blades typically won’t hit the primary target with its projectiles, unless you have both Ancestral Call and Chain, but it still won’t be consistent. However, you seem to be going for a pure elemental build with abyss jewels and an ele claw, so this shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

And lastly, I’m not really sure about that 3-point jewel socket by the Scion wheel. It is just 20 strength you’re getting, which doesn’t help your build in any way other than 10 flat life and stat requirement. Especially since you can get 18% increased attack speed from the same 3 points in the Berserking cluster right next to it, or 27% attack speed one additional point to Claws of the Magpie on the claw wheel. Yes, Abyss jewels are nice, but they get less nice the more of them you have, and 6.8% attack speed per node is quite a lot of attack speed. You’ll want to check Path of Building to see if you can get jewels that will make it worth it.

So my final tree would probably look something like this. You can make up for the slight loss of life by using a Might of the Meek jewel by the Life wheel, notice that it gets the crit multi nodes too. Obviously this tree is tailored more to my playstyle, so take from it what you will, but hopefully this either gives you some ideas or makes you more confident about your own choices and your reasoning behind them.

Honestly, I think the question is simple: is this mechanic so powerful that it makes those playing without it be left behind more than it would be reasonable to? Or, in other words: are you forced into using this to have a chance of getting a high amount of currency? If yes, then they should remove it. PoE endgame tries to be about giving you all sort of options. You can run lab all day long. You can kill Shaper all day long. You can run a variety of influenced maps all day long.

All those strategies are suposed to be reasonably equal in terms of what they give you back. Of course some people might find a way of making one more efficient, and some strategies work better in different times of the league. But in general they do hold fairly well together, and if you’re reasonably efficient you’ll make a reasonable amount of currency in any of them.

The Elder Ring, as happened with Sextants before, removes part of this. It’s simply not possible to get even near the same amount of currency by running maps without this. You either make an Elder Ring, or you’ll be forever getting less currency. This removes options from the game, and is thus bad design.

Saying this the other way around: with the Elder Ring in the game, even running mid to high tier maps doesn’t feel rewarding for me, who do not have the ring. If they didn’t release the screenshots, I’d be worried they’re slashing our available abilities from 9 to 6.

I’m also really curious how Paladin is going to end up working out with all it’s buffs/heals and it’s situational skills. I could imagine the new skill chain system working fine with the DPS classes or the tanks, but, healers are another kettle of fish altogether.

I’m wondering if they’ll just end up attaching their buffs and situtaional skills (like Chains of Punishment) to attacks. Of course, we won’t know the full story until they release gameplay videos. What’s your opinion?

Idea 4: “Escapist”. Skills ailments mechanics are buffed and damage is reduced.

You could change Lightning Tendrils to exactly that: increase the AOE and change the mechanic that more damage is deal far away from the player than closer to the player plus the ailment of shock chance (slow the enemy).
